Mr. Hartfield was a great man, and a role model to those who knew him. It was a joy and a priviledge to work with him at State National for a few years before he retired. He would come into the bank occasionnally thereafter, and it was always such a pleasure to see him and visit. I am a better person for having known Mr. Hartfield. He was a great role model. I pray for God's rich blessings upon Mr. Hartfield in Heaven and his family here on earth.

Cousin of Mine: I want to thank you for the love, commitment, devotion, and friend you demonstrated to Uncle Clarence. As a Hartfield, I know it was very trying at times; however , you stayed in the trenches. Uncle ALWAYS KNEW YOU HAD HIS BACK AND/OR SLACK. HE MAY NOT TOLD YOU BUT HE WAS VERY CONFIDENT ABOUT IT. I LOVE YOU.
David Agee left a message on October 19, 2011:
Clarence Hartfield was an important man in my life. We were close friends. He helped me understand much of what it takes to be a man. I grew up spending a lot of time at the Jones Lumber Company. I am Mr. Jones' grandson. I was a child when I met Clarence, who was working there. He was always kind, protecting, and instructive. A lumber yard can be a dangerous place. When I grew older, I worked there for ten years. Clarence taught me how to work. He taught me how to use tools and how to handle building materials. I accompanied him on hundreds of deliveries and we spent many hours in conversation. We drove the company car or truck all over Big Spring and around West Texas to service jobs. Most often we traveled to Colorado City Lake, Sweetwater, Snyder, Stanton, the Hall Ranch, and dozens of oil well sites. We became close lifetime friends. I have lived in Fort Worth since 1967 and we have kept in touch until today. He was always one of my primary reasons for any visit to Big Spring. I will miss him very much.

2 Timothy 4: 7-8 7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Clarence, Dennis, Sr., Dennis, Jr. and Dawn, You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God be your strength during this time of mourning.

I loved your daddy when I was a kid! He was very important to me and the other grandchildren of S. P. Jones. Also, my aunt Myrtle Stoutenburg died on September 5. She and Clarence had kept in touch for years and years.
