Mrs. Christine Thomas Mearse was born on November 15th, 1922 in Dublin, Texas. She graduated to be with her heavenly Father on May 31st, 2024 at an amazing 101 years of age. In 1925, Christine moved North of Loraine to the Valley View community with her parents, the late Jacob Irving and Blanche Thomas and sister, the late Myra Nell Thomas Hoback. She graduated from Loraine High School in 1939 and later attended McMurry and Texas Tech University.
She started working at the First State Bank of Loraine in 1942 prior to moving to Abilene the following year where she was employed at Citizens National Bank.
In January 1945, she became employed with Shell Oil Company in Colorado City and married Herbert J. Mearse on November 27th. They lived as a married couple in Sweetwater prior to moving to Loraine, where they resided for 63 years. Christine served the Loraine community for many years and attended Loraine Methodist Church. She was definitely a sports enthusiast who thoroughly enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. When not watching sports, you could find her lending a helping hand or catching an episode of Jeopardy and Price is Right.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Michael Mearse (Janet) and daughter, Jan Elizabeth Albus (Ken). She also leaves behind two granddaughters, two grandsons and five great-grandsons.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for 11:00 am on June 14, 2024 at Loraine Methodist Church in Loraine, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Loraine Methodist Church or Manor Park in Midland, Texas.
