Charlotte Ann Franklin, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother was born on March 27th 1951 to Sammie Crossland Jordan and Bennett Jordan in Brownfield, Texas. She was ushered into the presence of Jesus, surrounded by family on December 25, 2023, at her home in Midland, TX.
As an only child, Charlotte was the light of her parents’ lives and captivated their attention through her ballet, tap, and jazz recitals. Her love for music and dancing continued throughout her high school years, where she played clarinet and was a majorette in the Brownfield High School Band.
In 1968, Charlotte married and moved to California. As a naval military wife, she lived in various towns before making her home in Midland, TX in 1973. She delighted in her role as a mother and immersed herself in the happiness of her children, always striving to provide the best life possible for each of them and selflessly sacrificing for their betterment. She was a devoted homemaker for many years before starting her career in oil and gas where she had a thirty-year tenure with the Apache Corporation working as a Regulatory Production Clerk, making many lifelong cherished friendships.
Charlotte loved her family first and foremost. Affectionately called Nanna, she often referred to her grandchildren and great-granddaughters as her greatest reward and sought any and every opportunity to be in their presence. Whether watching a tee-ball or baseball game of her grandsons, a dance recital of her great-granddaughters, or instigating a trip to Six Flags to ride the biggest roller coaster, she was always thrilled to be in the presence of her family. They knew she could be counted on for support, encouragement, and unconditional love. She was quick to offer up an honest opinion, encouraging advice or a warm meal to anyone.
Charlotte took every opportunity to host a gathering, as being surrounded by her family was her greatest delight. Holidays were magical with her as host as she loved to cook and entertain for those she loved. Christmas was always her favorite time of year for pouring out her love on others, so it seems only fitting that she was welcomed into Jesus’ arms on Christmas morning.
Charlotte will forever be remembered as a beacon of joy. With quick wit and a fantastic sense of humor, she never lost the ability to see the light in any situation and would want nothing more than to make others laugh rather than to worry about her own obstacles. Often quoting the TV show Friends, laughter was her greatest medicine and became a source of strength for her as she faced numerous health battles over the last eight years. Always the funniest person in the room, she was quick to make a nurse or doctor laugh, even when faced with the most unthinkable of odds. Charlotte was resilient to her core and courageously fought to exceed every expectation, living to see precious milestones in the lives of her family.
Charlotte will be missed immensely, and her absence leaves a permanent void, but her family rejoices knowing she received complete healing in her heavenly home.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents Sammie Crossland Jordan and Bennett Jordan, her grandparents whom she adored, as well as numerous treasured aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her daughter Kimm Duncan of Midland, son Craig Franklin and wife Christy of Midland, and daughter Candy Garrett and husband Greg of Midland. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Justin Garrett and wife Sara of Gardendale, Jake Garrett and wife Lauren of Midland, Caleb Franklin of Midland, Branson Williams of Lubbock, Austyn Richardson of Dallas and Ashlynn Richardson of Boston, Massachusetts. Her heart delighted in the most recent additions to the family, her great-granddaughters, Gwendolyn Belle Garrett, Olivia Ann Garrett, and Charlotte Mae Garrett.
