Charles Weldon McCabe, known to everyone as Charlie, 48 of Midland, Texas, passed from this life into the next February 8th, 2021.
Charlie will forever be known as a craftsman, in the truest sense of the word, and quite possibly the hardest working man alive. It’s doubtful there was anything in existence he couldn’t build, create or fix. His unrivaled skills, fierce tenacity and dogged personality carried him across this nation laying foundations upon which communities grew, erecting buildings large and small, framing and finishing million-dollar homes, wiring oil rigs and oil field equipment, fabricating high pressure vessels, and setting standards all along his way. And he didn’t just do all of these things, he did them exceedingly well. His craftsmanship and handiwork as a Carpenter, Framer, Builder, Electrician, Welder and QC Manager can still be seen in places such as Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and of course his home state of Texas. All of these monuments to his pride, passion, and quest for perfection.
Charlie spent his time outside of work living life full throttle. As a boy, he enjoyed break dancing (his breaker name was “Face”), skateboarding, bmx bicycles, and dirt bike riding. During his teen years he graduated to fast cars and Harley Davidsons. And during his time in North Carolina, he became infatuated with lake life and wakeboarding; eventually becoming a sponsored rider. He was fearless in all things he pursued, always pushing, always relentless. Charlie also enjoyed tattoos, barbecuing, and simply being the most authentic person you would ever find. Above all, the absolute most important thing in this world to Charlie were his daughters.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father Michael Edward McCabe Sr, his maternal grandparents Edna Inez and Charles V. Cook, and his paternal grandmother Bernice McCabe.
Charlie is survived by his mother, Christy Cook-McCabe of Midland, his children Charli Jenae McCabe and Kailey Renae McCabe of Medina, Texas, brothers Michael McCabe, Jr. of Midland and Nicholas McCabe of Austin, Texas, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St in Midland, Texas.
