Charles Edwin Taylor, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 14, 2008 at a local hospital. He was born June 15, 1926, in Tupelo, MS, to Charlie and Bernice Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bobby Joe Taylor. He is survived by his wife of thirty one years, Doris; three daughters, Kaye Dugan, Rene Basham, and Judy Barnes; four sons, Gary Taylor, Doug Taylor, David Porter and Jim Fleming; two sisters and one brother; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He was a resident of Midland since 1983. He also was on the Rankin ISD School Board and the First State Bank of Rankin Board. He was a member of the Westside Church of Christ and Austin Scottish Rite. He had been a member of the Lions Club in Midland and Rankin. He retired from Halliburton after 35 years and did oil-field consulting for several years. He loved to hunt and fish and have coffee with his friends.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with Mike Vestal, officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Rankin Cemetery.
