My Dear Uncle, will never forget the time you flew me from East Texas to spend a week with you, just hanging out as you went about your life. We got up every day before sunrise to drive around picking up young people to attend mass with us. And I learned a lot working on the converted school bus in your backyard that you used for Boys Club activities. You were one of the kindest, smartest, and humblest people I have ever known. I know I have lots of company in saying thank you for being such a positive influence on my life.

Thanks for being there for us all. Nothing like camping in Ingram and other places. You will be missed but always remembered. God bless you old friend!

Uncle Burt, you were an amazing and much loved man!! I love the stories of how you found ways to surprise my mom (your sister) when she would come home late from dates with my dad long ago. And of course I'll never forget the times you "buzzed" our house before landing your plane at Gregg County Airport as our signal that you'd arrived - surprise!!! What could be more fun for a little girl than an uncle who does that. We always loved your visits. God bless you.

Gems like Mr. Bert are hard to find. His dedicated service will forever be remembered by many young men like my cousins who spent their time at the Boy's Club. Now he can rest among the angels in heaven! God bless him!

Bert was such a positive role model for many kids that grew up in Big Spring. When I was old enough to join the Boys Club, I didn't have the money for the membership fee. No problem, Bert asked me to pick up trash and glass around the pool for a day. Earning that membership was one of the first lessons Bert taught me. Rest in peace Pájaro!
