Carlos \Chuck\ Hernandez, 46, of Stanton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2017 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death.Services will be at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Visitation and viewing will be from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 and from 9:00 am-noon on Thursday, September 21, 2017. A Wake will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stanton. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.Chuck was born on January 13, 1971 to Connie and Nestor Hernandez in Tucson, AZ. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1989 and attended college at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He married Missy Villa on December 2, 2005 and they have one daughter, Ida.Chuck loved making people laugh and was the best father, brother and son anyone could have asked for. He loved spending time with his daughter, and he took great pride in watching her run cross-country and track. He was a softball coach, and he volunteered with the Odessa West Texas Track Club. He was his daughter's biggest fan.Chuck also adored his nieces and nephews, Tori (ToTo), Jalen (JJ), Alyssa (Granyas) and Elijah Villa. He loved spending time with them, beating them in cards and watching their sporting events whenever possible.Chuck also loved the Dallas Cowboys and watching college football. Three things he always bought even when he didn't need them were coolers, caps and tennis shoes. The one thing he loved most was trying new eateries or restaurants that had great reviews & were highly recommended by many. He enjoyed traveling and hanging out with family and friends. Chuck also loved to dance, and his favorite songs were \Hard Man to Love\ by Kevin Fowler and \Amen, Amigo and Reckless\ by Aaron Watson.He is survived by his wife, Missy Hernandez of Stanton; his daughter, Ida; his parents, Nestor and Connie Hernandez of Stanton; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Mona Hernandez; and his nieces and nephew, Tori, Jalen and Alyssa Hernandez, all of Benton, AR. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.Honorary Pallbearers will be Martin County Road & Bridge Co-workers, Ramiro Reyes, Gabriel Ruiz, Marcus Argeullo, Robert Barrera, Tre' Hinojosa, Eugene Nebo, Jimmy Anderson, Steve Scurlark, Kelly Inman, Brad Holland, Lupe Garza, Haden \Bestie\ Garza, George Morin, JB Hernandez, Class of 1989, Co-Workers at Cornell/Geo Companies, and Odessa WTTC Committee Members.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to Hospice of Midland and Odessa West Texas Track Club.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland.
