Carl Dale Reid, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 4, 2023, at the age of 100, in Big Spring, Texas. He was born on June 15, 1923, in Howard County, Texas, to the late Hiram and Dona Reid.
In his early years, he attended R-Bar and Coahoma schools. He married the love of his life, Mable Earlene Edens. Together, they raised a beautiful family with five sons, Billy Carl, Phillip, Royce, Mike, and Donald. They also had 1 stillborn daughter, Charlotte Ann.
Carl Dale, a World War II Army veteran, served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a hardworking man who dedicated much of his life to farming and also worked at Webb Air Force Base. He was admired for his strong work ethic, which he instilled in following generations.
Carl Dale was fortunate to have lived in his home with great care from his family & a grandson of his namesake, Carl. This devotion played a vital role in ensuring his well-being and comfort during his later years. Grateful for the care he received in these last months at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home and from his caregivers at night, Cessy, Norma, and Caroline.
Carl Dale leaves behind two loving sons and four daughter in laws: Phillip Reid and his wife Shyrlee, Donald Reid and his wife Delinda, Paula Reid and Linda Reid. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Cale Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Mable Earlene Reid, three sons, Billy Carl, Royce, and Mike Reid, an infant daughter, Charlotte Ann Reid, great-grandson, Robert Dentler, daughter-in-law, Linda Reid, two brothers, Clay and Juil Reid, as well as his parents, Hiram and Dona Reid.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Nalley Pickle and Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring, Texas. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, at 10:00 AM at Coahoma Church of Christ, with burial to follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
Carl Dale Reid will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace and may his memory forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
