Bobby Ray Rawls, 66, of Big Spring passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024. Bobby was born on November 25, 1957, in Big Spring as the 7th child and son of John Wesley Rawls Jr. and Mary Belle (Whitley) Rawls. He was a life-long resident of Big Spring having worked mostly in the oilfield before fully retiring in 2019. Many people knew him by his nickname of “Frog” or “Froggy” and was often called “Uncle Frog” or “Grandpa Frog” by the children of the family. Many friends of the family also affectionally called him “Uncle Bobby”. His passion for family extended to his love of genealogy collecting the Rawls family history throughout the United States and Europe.
Bobby is survived by his sons James (Melissa) and Wesley, both of Midland, and daughters Cheyenne and Raylynn, both of Big Spring. He is also survived by grandchildren Gabriella and Alyssa Ramsey, Autumn and Kolby Baca of Big Spring, Jonathan Rawls of Lubbock, and Ryleigh Rawls of Iowa City, IA. Additionally he is survived by his brothers David (Edna) of Big Spring and Harold of Houston as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister Barbara Chandler, brothers Wesley, Billy, Dean, and Ricky Rawls.
Friends and family are invited to join together for a visitation from 6-8pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 6pm-8pm. A small graveside service will be at a later date.
