Bobby Dwain Graves, 81, of Lenorah, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm, Monday, April 29, 2024, at Gilbreath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Tarzan Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Bobby was born September 11, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas to Lester and Juanita (Wozencraft) Graves. Bobby went to grade school at Grady and graduated high school in Stanton, Texas. He was a member of FFA, showing lambs and was also on the judging team. Bobby graduated from Howard College and West Texas State. After graduating, Bobby taught junior high science at McCamey for 3 years. Bobby decided teaching wasn’t for him and he had always wanted to farm.
Bobby married Zella Odom on January 6, 1967 and they had one son, Stephen. Bobby and Zella were married 57 years on January 6, 2024. They had many happy years working together on the farm. Bobby had a love for farming and didn’t want to retire, working until a month ago. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bobby served on the Grady ISD School Board and Farm Bureau board. Bobby and Zella enjoyed working with Campers on Mission for 10 years. They were coordinators of Region 1 for 5 years. Campers on Missions was like a second family. Bobby was a Christian man and enjoyed helping the youth, children and missionaries.
Bobby is survived by his wife Zella, his son Stephen, both of Lenorah, brother Kenneth and wife Karen of Stanton, sister Frances and husband Sam Foreman of Greenwood, brother-in-law Eddie Odom and wife Sharron of Waco, nieces Cheri and husband Joe Dellorocobo, Kassie and husband Duane Ramirez, Kourtney and Sarah Graves, nephews JC Odom, Nicholas Ramirez and adopted family Vince, Connie, Jesse and Jamine Rodriguez.
