Bobbie Roberts, 91, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Crestview Baptist Church Youth Building in Midland, Texas.
Bobbie was born on November 10, 1932 in Camden, Arkansas to Robert Evans Shelton and Susie Grace Robberts Shelton. She grew up in Camden with her parents and younger sister, Ann, graduating from Camden High School, then attended her freshman year of college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. After her freshman year in college, her father was transferred to Midland, Texas and she did her remaining time in college at University of North Texas in Denton, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She spent many years teaching music in various school districts and giving piano lessons to many students. While home from college one summer she met Loren Roberts at First Baptist Church Midland, and they married June 4, 1955. They raised three children, Susan, Shannon, and Phillip. Loren’s job took him to many locations and she followed him faithfully wherever life took them. Wherever they lived she made sure her family was in church and that they all knew the love of Jesus. In addition to teaching music, she was piano accompanist in several churches and passed on her love of reading to her children and grandchildren.
Bobbie is survived by her children Susan Miller and Shannon Roberts, both of Midland, Texas, and Phillip Roberts and wife, Sue of Marlborough, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her grandchildren Richard Miller (Ashley), Richelle Rivas, Rebecca Riley (Scott), James Roberts, and Victoria Roberts. She was also survived by former son-in-law, Phil Miller. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren Riley, Lily, Benjamin, Adeline, and Madelyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Loren Roberts, her parents, her younger sister and brother-in-law Ann and Lanny Story, nephew Lane Story, and brother and sister-in law Snookie and Chris Roberts.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Ashton Medical Lodge, to Interim Home Care and Hospice, and to Bobbie’s church family at Crestview Baptist Church for all of their care and compassion.
