Billy Forrest Hammond, 91, went home to his Savior, Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Private family services will be held.

He was born July 21, 1930, in Colorado City, Texas to Albert and Pauline Hammond. Billy worked at Col-Tex in Colorado City before transferring to Cosden Refinery, retiring in 1995.

Billy was a Christian and lived his life serving his Savior, Jesus Christ. He had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 38 years, First Baptist Church for 7 years, and was a current member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Billy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane Hammond; one son, Kaleb Hammond and wife, Amber; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Hammond; two sisters, Betty Hammond Gale and Patricia Fourton. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Amie and Ty, Eric, Carla and Andrew, Daniel and Kyra, Eli, Tristan, Brittany, Zackary Austin and Cole Johnson; and his great grandchildren, Berkley, Callie, Andrew, Payton, Mikah, Isabella, Kennadi, Carolina and Everly.

Billy was met in heaven by his son, Kenny; his parents; a sister, Delese; a brother, Tommy; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cone and Florine Merritt.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Trinity Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1701 E. FM 700, Big Spring, Texas 79720.

Jane & family our deepest condolences for you. Billy was very loved & respected. We appreciated his heart given kindness every time we saw him. Danyelle remembers as a little girl when he brought her a package of blue bonnet seeds to plant in her little garden & he always told the girls how pretty they were every Sunday. We rejoice for him at this time because now is truly reaping what he sowed into others. He was the example that God has asked us to be to others, loving our neighbors & showing Christian love to everyone we meet. Jane we love you & asked God to give you peace & comfort.
