Bill Kersh, 72 of Midland, TX, passed away on April 16, 2021. A rosary will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 7:00 PM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Services will later be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 12:30 PM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with a reception to celebrate his life to follow.
Bill was born on August 7, 1948, to George and Georgia Kersh in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He is survived by his sister Patsy. His children; Ron Kersh and wife Margaret (children, Ronnie, Ali, Andee, Aubrie), Jeff Kersh and wife Lyssah, Luke Kersh and wife Bridgett (children, Madilyn and Karley), daughter Kelly Kersh (children, Trey, Hunter, Kase, Daxton, Autumn), and daughter Morgan Kersh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth, and sister Shirley.
Bill went on to serve his country in the Vietnam War, however unbeknownst to many in his life, during this time, he received a Purple Heart. He was not one to boast or brag; he merely wanted to serve his country and do what he felt right.
After serving his country, Bill went on to earn a degree in accounting where he furthered his career- one of many. Bill loved to work, and more importantly, he loved learning, something that he instilled in his children.
Over the years, he participated in many activities, he was a very active man. He was a mountain climber, a cyclist, and above all an avid member of the theater community. He loved Shakespeare- you could recite a line and he could give you the Act and Scene. He lit up the stage as much as he lit up everyone’s life he entered.
He was full of patience and inspired others to learn, pursue their passions and dreams, and educate themselves. He believed that the mind was limitless. Even at 70 years old he was still taking courses, just to enrich himself and scratch that never-ending itch that was…curiosity.
Above all, he fiercely loved his children. He taught us all love, integrity, honesty, and respect. And if you had love in your heart, you were doing the right thing, and he taught us to always do the right thing. He was a wonderful man, one that you don’t often come across. He will be missed, every day, but cherished and appreciated even more so.
“If you read this line, remember not
The hand that writ it, for I love you so
That I in your sweet thoughts would be forgot,
If thinking on me then should make you woe.” – William Shakespeare
