Billie Wirt Stieghan (Papaw Bill), 96, of Midland, TX passed away on January 12, 2021. Billie was born in Houston, TX and where he grew up and met his beloved wife, Eddie Mae Brooks. Billie had been a member of Bellview Baptist Church for several years and had many wonderful friends there.
Billie is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Eddie Mae Stieghan (Grannie), who passed away in 2008. Parents Bill and Arvonia Stieghan.
Billie is survived by his daughter, Billie Donnette Sartain and her husband, Stanley Sartain of Midland, TX; daughter, Bobbie Gaye McNatt of Midland, TX; three grandchildren, Craig Sartain of Midland, TX; Danny and wife, Regina Sartain of Granbury, TX; Marian Sasso and her husband, Justin of Littleton, CO; five great grandchildren, Andrew Sartian of Oklahoma City, OK; Tori Legendre and husband, Tyler of Midland, TX; Chad Sartain of Buford, Georgia; James Sartain and wife, Sydney of Kyle, TX; Emily Sasso of Littleton, CO; two great-great grandchildren, Hudson and Harper Legendre of Midland, TX; one brother, Don Stieghan and wife, Carol of Greenville, N.C.
Billie was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a 2nd dad to Stan and they loved to spend time together especially playing golf when he was younger. He loved to volunteer especially in the gift shop at MMH Hospital, Senior Services of Midland, Need to Read and was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, member of the Masons and a Veteran of World War II. Billie was known by his neighbors and friends as Bill. All his family enjoyed the stories he shared of his childhood and time in the military.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Padmaja Patel and her staff, all the doctors and nurses of the MMH emergency room, and Interim Hospice of Midland, TX for their wonderful services.
Graveside services will be held later this year in Ft. Worth, TX.
