Betty Sue Rains

Betty Sue Rains, age 76, went Home to glory on September 14, 2024. She was born to Bud and Opal Blair on September 18, 1947 in Coleman, Texas. 15 short years later, she met the love of her life in Ron Rains. Together, they built a beautiful life these last 61 years. If you ever had the pleasure of entering the Rains residence, you know that theirs was a welcoming home. Betty Sue lived her life with open arms and an open heart, loving and caring for too many people to count. She was a most dedicated employee, retiring from the City of Midland in 2001 after 30 years of loyal service. Our Nanna was an avid shopper with a love for fine accessories. She was her happiest when surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and those she loved most.

She is survived by her loving husband and their daughter, Starla Maxwell; daughters Elisa Felix of Midland, Sheila Rice and husband Shawn of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren Billy Ray (Trey) McFarland III, wife Samantha, and sons Gavin, Maddox, and Aidan of Tyler, Texas, Ashton West, husband Robert, sons Colter and Jaxson, and daughter Grace of Keller, Texas, Austin Vogel, and son Hayden, of Midland. She is also survived by her brother, Lee Blair of Irving, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Bobbie Ruth Baker, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle-Welch Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on her 77th birthday – Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
