Betty Jo Courtney, 87 of Midland, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, April 9, 2021. Visitation will be 3:00–5:00p.m. on Sunday, April 11 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2021 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Betty was born December 31, 1933 in Donna, Texas and lived in the Rio Grande Valley where she met and married Bob Ross. They had four children Pam Lovall of Midland, Robert Ross of Abilene, Sandye Roark of Dallas and Drue Ross of Midland. His engineering career took the family all over the world. They would settle in Midland in the early 70’s where they later divorced. She married Dr. Ken Courtney in 1976 who preceded her in death on April 12, 2002.
Betty was an LVN and worked for Dr. Charles Younger for 33 years when she retired.
She was often referred to as Nurse Betty.
Her hobbies in life included needlepointing in which she made her children and grandchildren Christmas stockings and the whole Christmas manger scene. She loved traveling in the springtime to view the beautiful Texas bluebonnets. Betty’s true joy in life were her children, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. “MER was the name and SPOILIN’S the game”
