Bertie Bow Long, 96, died peacefully at her home on Sept. 20, 2005. She moved to Colorado Springs in spring of 1990 from Lubbock, Texas. She was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and a former elementary school teacher. She was the first docent at the museum of Texas Tech and taught children's Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Lubbock for 39 years. She was married to George B. Long for 51 _ years. She was a wonderful story-teller of history, especially the years she had witnessed herself. As a young girl she loved to accompany her father who was a country doctor. She was an expert seamstress for herself and during the childhood years of her two surviving daughters, Georgina Bow Logsdon of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Vinnie Ellen Boone of Garland, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandsons. A graveside service and burial will be near her childhood home at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas 10:00 am on Saturday, September 24, 2005.
