Bertha Marie Sansom Jarratt, 94, of Midland, TX, passed away on February 14, 2022.
Bertha “Bert” Jarratt was born in Uvalde, TX on Nov 15, 1927; the youngest of six children to parents, Willis and Nellie Sansom. She graduated from Uvalde High School in 1945 and later that same year married David Hillis “Pop” Jarratt. They were married for 63 years and the proud parents of three children, Jeff, Janean, and John.
Bert worked as a bookkeeper in Houston, TX and was the sole proprietor of her own company, The Balance Sheet. She and David enjoyed traveling to many exotic locations when they were young, and later savored their retirement years by sitting on the back porch of their country home in Caldwell, TX, drinking Texas wines while surrounded by family and friends.
Bert is survived by her two sons, Jeff and wife Renee of Midland, TX; and John and wife Robin of Durant, OK; four grandchildren, Joel and wife Laurie of Klein, TX, Jonathan and wife Marissa of Plano, TX, Desmond and wife Ena of Atlanta, GA, and Taylor Lawrence of Lytle, TX; three great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, as well as other family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David, her daughter, Janean, and siblings, Howard Thiele, Robert Sansom, Willis Sansom, Virginia Power, George Sansom, and Ira Sansom.
A family memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N. Big Spring Street, Midland, TX 79705. Carl Williams will officiate the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org). The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and physicians at Sonoma House Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Care in Carrollton, TX.
