Barbara Roper of Stanton, beloved wife, mother, and friend departed this life on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in a local nursing home at the ago of 68 years. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Belvue Church of Christ with Bill Welsh and Don Mitchell, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM, Friday at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.Mrs. Roper was born May 29, 1941 to Homer and Ila Dean (Guffey) Worley in Knox City, Texas. She married Claude Roper on August 9, 1960 in Lubbock. She worked as an agent for the Agriculture Soil Conservation Services for 20 years. Barbara loved the outdoors, camping trips to Garner State Park, and being with her girls.She was a member of Belvue Church of Christ in Stanton.Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 49 years, Claude; two daughters, Renee Nix of Stanton, and Pam Suitt of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one brother, Paul Worley of Big Spring; and one sister, Phyllis Mason and husband, Preston of Kingsland.She was preceded in death by her parents, one niece, and one son-in-law, Troy Nix.The family suggest memorials be made to Crossroads Hospice, 421 S.
