Barbara W, Larsen, 90, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born Barbara Ann Westervelt on July 27th 1927 in Menominee, Michigan. She grew up in Menominee and developed a love for the outdoors. Barbara obtained her BA at Augustana College where she met her soon to be husband Bill Larsen. Barbara was an elementary school teacher before she married Bill, and soon moved from Ames, Iowa to the oilfields of West Texas in the 1950s with daughter Lyn and son David. Bill and Barbara had three more children and devoted themselves to raising the five kids in Midland, Texas. She served as a volunteer for many organizations. She was an honorary life member of the Petroleum Museum and auxiliary member of both Trinity Towers and Manor Park. She volunteered her time with organizations such as the Friends of the Library, Midland Public Library, Petroleum Museum, Museum of the Southwest, Recording Library for the blind, and the Midland Iris Society. She was also a lifetime member of the Midland Gem and Mineral society and twice served as President of the AAUW. Barbara happily lived at Manor Park and was dearly loved. She will be missed by everyone she touched.Barbara is survived by her daughter Lyn Yater and sons Greg Larsen, Kevin Larsen and wife Barbara, Roger Larsen and wife Cindy, and sister-in-law Madelyn Miles, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by husband Bill Larsen, son David Larsen and Brother-in-law Philip Miles.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Park Faudree Family Chapel at Manor Park in Midland.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Gifts of Hope, P.O.
