Barbara Ann Garrison Whitead passed away on August 9, 2022. She was born in Ryan, Oklahoma on August 9, 1931, to parents Orion B. Garrison and Edna E. Lobdell Garrison. At the age of five her family moved to Carlsbad, NM where she was raised and educated. On June 4, 1952 she married L. William (Bill) Whitead. She was a devoted Christian, a beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother.
Barbara worked as an administrative assistant in the Crude Oil Department of Amoco Production Company in Midland, TX and retired from that position in December 1999. She was a past member of the Desk & Derrick and the Midland County Republican Women’s Club. During her retirement she volunteered for the Midland Senior Service’s Meals on Wheels and was a docent for the Scarborough-Lineberry House. In the last 3 years she volunteered at the Hope House Program-Gifts of Hope, Inc. and was still driving at her young age of 90 up until the last 4 months.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Don J. Garrison & Philip Garrison. She is survived by her son William M. (Buddy) Whitead & his wife Cathy Whitead of Plano, TX, daughter Susan Brazell & her husband Tim Brazell of Midland, TX. Granddaughter Jennifer Frysak & her husband Adam Frysak of Midland, TX, grandsons Drake Brazell of Midland, TX & Eddie Whitead of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Last but not least, her two great grandsons, Jackson Cole Frysak & Luke Garrison Frysak of Midland, TX.
Donations in her honor may be made to the Hope House Program-Gifts of Hope, Inc.
Interment of cremains will be in the Garrison family plot in Ryan, Oklahoma.
