Barbara was born on February 4, 1935 to Paul Marion Kerrick and Angela Rhodes Kerrick of Owensboro, KY. She grew up in Owensboro with her three sisters; Bettye, Dottie, & Paula Kerrick. She was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School. Barbara loved animals, especially dogs. She bred and showed collies for a hobby. She met Ronald Horn in 1965, fell in love, and moved to Texas. They were blessed with two daughters; Angela and Catherine. Ron reenlisted in the Army and was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968. At that time, Barbara moved back to Owensboro, KY to be near family and friends. Her long-time friend, John Nesmith, reunited with her and they have been companions ever since. In the 1980’s, Barbara moved back to Texas and found various jobs which she enjoyed, but her favorite was when she worked at the Museum of the Southwest in Midland. She was the gift shop buyer and receptionist for the museum. Barbara always loved art, she loved to paint in oils and draw. She loved anything Egyptian and was an avid reader. She loved playing games, board games like Scrabble and card games like Canasta. She even named a cat after the game Scrabble. She always had collies and kitty cats, a couple of horses, hamsters, goldfish, a parakeet, and even a rabbit at one time. Barbara had a melodious laugh, which filled a room and a smile that was bright and beaming. She had beautiful green eyes that had a sparkle that would fill your heart with warmth when they met yours. She loved Christmas time and was always overly generous with gifts for her family and loved ones. She was a good woman and was loved by all who knew her.
