Atanacio “Nachito” Franco was born to Lucas & Maria Franco on August 15, 1930 in Mulato, Mexico. He was one of six children. He spent the majority of his childhood on the ranch where he developed his love for farming and animals.He later met his wife, Pilar Franco, and soon married in May of 1953. The marriage resulted in the birth of eleven children which included Arcelia, Enedelia, Antonio, Oved, Aurelia, Amabilia, Ana, Lorena, Gilberto, Noe, and Sonia. The family started out in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico and moved to Midland, Texas in 1980. There he built the home that he lived in for the remainder of his years. His love for ranching, however, did not fall behind. Atanacio bought land in Greenwood, Texas that not only was divided among his children to secure their future, but was also filled with many goats, chickens, and horses. Here he spent the majority of his time doing what he loved most- horseback riding, caring for his animals and land, and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.Atanacio “Nachito” Franco is survived by his sister Eva Franco Moreno, his loving wife, Pilar Ruiz Franco, nine children, twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.Viewing/Visitation is scheduled 8:00 am to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel; a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm the same day.
