Arnold De La Garza, 86 of Midland, Texas passed away on Tuesday March 21st, 2023. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 30th at St. Stephens Catholic Church.
Arnold De La Garza was born on January 11, 1937. in San Diego, Texas to Theodore “Ted”& Herminia De La Garza. Arnold moved to Lamesa, Texas when he was in his youth and lived there for 22 years. He married his sweetheart and love of his life of 65 years Georgia De La Garza on June 15, 1957. Before moving to Midland, Texas in 1967 he served in the National Guard. Arnold’s passion and calling was to serve our Lord Jesus Christ which he faithfully did for 47 years in jail house and prison ministry. He was the spiritual leader of our family and was loved by many. He would pray for anyone he came in contact with and would often lay hands on them and us regardless of the situation. Arnold loved to fish as well. He fished for fish and souls…sometimes both if there was someone fishing with him. His legacy will touch generations and for that we are abundantly blessed and eternally grateful!
He is survived by Robert De La Garza (of Dallas), Joel & Kelli De La Garza (of Big Spring), and Kenneth & Jennifer De La Garza (of Midland), 5 grandchildren, Brian, Paxton, Landis, Faith, Garrett and one great grandchild, Crue De La Garza.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff and physicians at Midland Memorial Hospital, family and friends for all the prayers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
