Apolinar Garcia Lara (Paul), 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Continue Care Hospital in Odessa, Texas. The family welcomes friends to join them for a Remembrance Gathering at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24,2022 at The Branch at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Apolinar was born in Odessa, Texas on September 27, 1952 to Apolinar and Celia Lara. He was raised in Midland, Texas. After he received his GED in 1972, Apolinar was sworn into the United States Army on January 1972 and was immediately shipped out for basic and advanced training. He was honorably discharged in January 1975. He worked as a certified Fire Fighter in the Midland Fire Department from 1977-1989.
Apolinar’s passions included gunsmithing, guns and ammo, stamps, and coins. Although a staunch Texan and Republican, Apolinar was an avid fan of all things Nick Saban, Bear Bryant and Alabama Crimson Tide Football – Roll Tide! His biggest blessing was his son Paul Matthew Lara.
He is survived by his wife Margarita, son Paul Matthew (Allison), his sister Martha Paredes (Gregorio), and brother Oscar Lara (Debra), and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal & paternal grandparents, parents, and infant son Apolinar G. Lara, Jr.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care PB, Midland Memorial Hospital, Medical Center Hospital, and Continue Care Hospital.
