Anne Beys Mewhorter, age 94 of Midland, passed away on March 6, 2023. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Christ Church Anglican located at 5501 N. Midkiff Rd. in Midland, Texas.
A child of Greek immigrants, John and Sofia Beys, Anne was born on May 19, 1928 in El Paso, Texas. She was the youngest of seven children. Three brothers, George, Nick and Alexander and three sisters, Helen Hutson, Victoria Williams and Mary Nordin.
Anne graduated from Austin High School in El Paso where she was voted “Most Popular Girl” and attended Texas Western College where she was a member of the Student Council and pledged Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She worked briefly for El Paso Natural Gas until February 17, 1950 when she married Bill Mewhorter. Anne and Bill lived in El Paso, Roswell, New Mexico and moved to Midland in 1966. She was a volunteer for over 45 years with the Midland Memorial Auxiliary, earning Lifetime Membership in 2014. In addition, she was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club. However, her most enjoyment came from playing bridge with her many friends.
Anne is survived by son, Bill Mewhorter (Lisa); daughter, Lynn Munter (Paul); grandchildren, Amanda Sale (Jeremy), Alexander Popejoy (Bryant), Eric Munter and Gillian McMullen (Mike); great grandchildren, Davis, Tate and Lilly; sister-in-law, Ellen Nizzi; six nieces and a nephew.
Anne Is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, her three brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Ashton Medical Lodge and Home Hospice.
