Ann Neal, 85, of Midland, passed away April 25, 2010. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 10:00 am at Crestview Baptist Church with Dr. John Gerlach officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.Ann was born November 29, 1924 in West Columbia, Texas to Charles and Anna Mickel Elder. She was baptized in the Brazos River after she accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of ten. She was raised in Houston and received her teaching degree from Texas State University in San Marcos. She began her teaching career in Pearsall, Texas in 1949 where she met Fred Neal at the First Baptist Church. They were married on August 9, 1952. Ann taught in public schools in Brady and Snyder before moving to Midland in 1956 where she was a long time teacher at Jane Long Elementary. In 1989, Ann retired from teaching in public schools after 36 years and spent an additional 8 years teaching preschool at Crestview Baptist Church. Ann has touched so many lives through her patient and loving approach to education.Ann has been a very active member of Crestview Baptist Church since 1956 as a children's teacher, member of various committees and senior adult programs.She enjoyed attending Lee Rebel football games, supporting the Rebel Band Boosters, shopping and most of all spending time with family especially her precious granddaughter, Katlyn. When recently asked, her loving nieces described her as patient, gentle, elegant, graceful, polished, soft-spoken, lady like and classy.She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles K. Elder, Jr. Survivors include, her husband of 57 years, Fred Neal of Midland; one son, Don Kirkland Neal and wife Lisa of Midland; daughter, Carol McDonald and husband John of Taylor, Texas; granddaughter, Katlyn Ann Neal of Buffalo, NY; a sister Dorothy Truesdell and husband Max of Seminole; niece, Connie Howell and husband Tommy of Midland; nephew Randy Truesdell and wife Dawn of Lubbock; niece, Kayla Adams and husband Dale of Lubbock; nephew Charles K. Elder, III of Montgomery, TX; niece, Debbie Powers and husband Scott of Corsicana, and many other family members and friends who will miss her very much.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Crestview Baptist Church children's library or the Forward by Faith fund, 3300 Thomas, Midland, TX 79703.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
