Babe was born on May 31, 1932 to Levi and Beulah Massey in Pettus, TX. She spent her childhood in Pettus where she met the love of her life Robert “Bob” Helm. They married in 1951 when she finally left home to travel the country with him as a naval wife. While in school she was a majorette in the band and played the drums. She was also very athletic playing basketball and running track while also playing on the football field with the boys during practice. She was definitely a TOMBOY deluxe!!! While living the life of a Navy wife, she had 2 children, Randy and Dusty who she loved dearly. Once the Navy life was complete, she followed her husband to Odessa, TX in 1958 where she became a school bus driver and took on league bowling. She loved both and was given the opportunity to travel with these as well. She loved to travel any chance she got to anywhere she could go especially if it involved camping or fishing. Babe moved from Odessa out to the country with land in Midland county in 1982 where they built a house to make a home big enough with room for all the grandkids to play.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen “Dusty” Baker and husband John, daughter-in-law Nancy Hall and husband Eddie; granddaughter, April Carman and husband Brent, grandson Rusty Baker, granddaughter Angela Hennessey, grandson Troy Baker, and grandson Allen Baker; her GREAT grandchildren: Mackenzie Carman, Tatum Luxton and wife Sabrina, Tanner Carman, Jolee Baker, Kaelyn Hennessey, Macee Baker, Averee Moore, and Jace Baker. She was blessed to be able to meet her first GREAT-GREAT grandson Levi James Luxton who was named after her father. She is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert William Helm; son, Randolph “Randy” William Helm; brothers, Albert Massey; George Massey and Clayton Massey; sister, Lou Ella Graham and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
