Alvin Dwight King left us in the early morning hours on Thursday, September 5, 2019, to go to his home in Glory. He was a wonderfully loving husband to his wife, of 59 years, and a guiding, loving father to his three children.Alvin was born February 3, 1937, to Carl A. and Edna Pearl King. He was raised in Akron, Colorado on the family homestead. Alvin served his country in the Army National Guard. During that time, he was on the Kate Smith Show with the National Guard band.Alvin loved his music and was found often playing one of his many instruments. In the National Guard, Alvin played trombone and told many wonderful tales of it. He also played the guitar, and trumpet. Alvin played accordion and sang with the Christianares for a few years. He also played the organ and piano in his own style. Alvin always said he didn’t play by note or ear he played by letter, “Rare back and letter fly,” is how he described his way of playing.Alvin married Caroline Grace Mock, on June 26, 1960. Together they raised their two oldest children, Debra and Dwight in Colorado. In 1981 Alvin moved his family to Texas and in June of 1985 Alvin and Caroline were blessed with their late life baby Joy.Having a family creates a busy life, and Alvin was always right in the middle of it. He helped his children with their many projects from late night study sessions to participating with their choir and band programs, as well as their FFA, and 4-H groups. Not only that, but if a bicycle wheel or a vehicle tire needed fixed, the person in trouble could generally call on Alvin for the needed repairs.Alvin is survived today by his wife, Caroline Grace King, his three children Debra Sharp, Dwight King, and Joy Shook, and only grandson Lee Shook; his brothers Noel and Larry, and his sister Alice Didamo. Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Frank.,
