Our Family Serving Yours

Family-owned businesses, such as Nalley-Pickle & Welch build their reputation by delivering on their promises. For the Nalley-Pickle & Welch family, this means surpassing expectations as we serve our neighbors in Midland, Big Spring, and Stanton.

Our family has owned and operated Nalley-Pickle & Welch for more than 80 years. We realize our neighbors throughout the Midland area trust our expert staff to walk alongside them during some of life’s most difficult times. We listen and we care, and our decades of professional experience help us highlight your loved one’s unique personality at the funeral and help you heal afterwards.

We remain a family-operated funeral home in every sense of the word. Ernest Welch began his career in funeral service working for Mr. River at River Funeral Home in Big Spring. His philosophy was simple: a funeral is a way to celebrate the life that was lived, to reflect on your loved one’s unique accomplishments. He bought the business in 1955 changing the name to River-Welch Funeral Home.

In 1937, Coy & Jessie Nalley started Nalley Funeral Home. J.C. Pickle joined as a partner and changed the name to Nalley-Pickle Funeral Home. Twenty years later, Ernest & Mary Lynn Welch purchased Nalley-Pickle creating Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. And in 1975, their son, Tommy Welch started working as a funeral director in the family business and later became president.

Moving forward, the Welch family purchased Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton in 1982. Today the business operates as Gilbreath Funeral Home as a division of Nalley-Pickle & Welch. Today, Kasi Welch Baker, daughter of Tommy Welch and granddaughter of Ernest, owns the funeral home and serves as a licensed funeral director.

Throughout our rich history, families trust us to arrange every detail of their burial or cremation with excellence.
