On May 3, 2026, Caleb Carley Lloyd, 38, of Midland, passed away in his sleep to wake up in the presence of his personal Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on June 24, 1987 to Mark and Ravona Lloyd in Midland, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. Livestreaming of the service will be available at www.npwelch.com
Caleb was an active, busy child, always the loudest voice on the playground. He was kind and sensitive to others. He wanted to save every stray animal that he saw. He wore a cape of some sort from age two until around eight. He loved Batman and every holiday was an opportunity to acquire another Batmobile and every character figure in the series.
Caleb was a charter member of Stonegate Fellowship growing up in KidsQuest and SGY (Stonegate Youth). He loved all kinds of music. He played bass for the youth praise team and also traveled occasionally with Bailey and Tyler to play for youth events.
Caleb was raised in Midland, graduating from Midland Christian High School in 2006. While at Midland Christian he played football, basketball and ran track. He played football for the 2004 state championship team playing defensive linebacker. These were special memories that he loved to remember and talk about. He went on to sign and play football for Howard Payne University for only one season. Sadly, it was at this time that the struggle began with the cruel disease of addiction.
There were many rehabs and short periods of sobriety that we just knew, this would be the time he would beat this and begin a fulfilling life. We held on to hope, we prayed and begged God to heal him. We are brokenhearted and we will never understand why, but we do know that God did heal him, just not on this side of heaven. We rest in the promise of heaven and that we will see him again.
Caleb is survived by his parents; sister, Bailey Dodds (Tyler); brothers, Travis Lloyd and Riley Lloyd; his nieces Aubrey and Norah Dodds; grandmothers, Charlene Felton and Doris Neely; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his grandfathers, William W. Smith and William Conrad Lloyd.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com
