One of the first sales calls I made in my career was on Ken Marks in the summer of 1976. We became friends over the decades I called on him and he used to jokingly call me the Caprock Aggie (I’d graduated from Texas Tech). Ken was a man of the utmost integrity and his word was his bond; he taught me so much. I have nothing but good memories of Ken and it was an honor to have known him. My deepest condolences go out to Lane and the entire Marks family.

These are difficult times as you say good bye on this earth, but the legacy he leaves and the memories will live forever in your hearts! Psalm 23 gives us reassurance. Love you and Tim.

Jamie and Tim, I'm sorry for your loss. I remember you father fondly. It was very kind of you to mention my father's business. It made my and my sisters' day to hear about our fathers working together all those years ago.

Amanda Davis left a message on July 8, 2024:
John, Julie, Jamie, Lane and extended family I hope you know just how very special your sweet daddy was to me and my family. I had the pleasure of sitting and learning from Bro. Ken in the Barnes Sunday School Class. Always starting off with prayer followed by a newspaper clipping of Dennis the Menace cartoon. Always connecting our lesson with that clipping. Bro. Ken would amaze me how he knew every detailed statistic about every game my oldest nephew, Michael Pearson, played in for the Lee Rebels. Bro. Ken truly was a servant of the Lord. Always helping or mentoring all age groups. I would always get a warm smile and a hug from him saying "good to see ya!" And I knew he meant it. If he ever missed church due to illness and when I would welcome him back, he would say "wouldn't want to be anywhere else!" In the words of my husband, "all those who had the pleasure of meeting Bro. Ken was better for it!" I know was thrilled to see Jesus face to face and his precious MaryLea. Love you all! Praying for you to find comfort during this time of sorrow. Amanda Davis

Ricardo Torres left a message on July 8, 2024:
To the Marks Family: I am saddened by the passing of such a Midland icon as was Mr. Marks. Truly a servant for the Lord’s work in our community. He was my “boss” as a member of the MISD school board and the parent of my students Jamie and Tim Skaggs. One of his many strengths was as an advocate for all of God’s children in school and community. It can truly be said that he fought the good fight and by his exemplary life, impacted thousands of kids by his authenticity and example , including my own children. Godspeed on this last journey!
JOEL AND LAWANNA PETTIT left a message on July 8, 2024:
We first moved to Midland in late 1984 and soon joined Crestview where we shared a SS class with Ken, Eddie McHugh and others -- so rewarding. Later Ken was instrumental when our family needed support from MISD. We are involved with FCA at Mississippi State University and will make a pledge there in his name. Joel and Lawanna Pettit
