Miguel Figueroa Balisnomo, 90 of Big Spring, Texas passed away on January 14, 2024. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on January 22, Monday at Peace Chapel of Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born in Culasi, Antique, Philippines on March 22, 1934. His parents were: Mauricio Balisnomo and Inez Figueroa. They have five children namely: Prudencio Balisnomo, Basilio Balisnomo, Crisostoma Balisnomo, Aurea Balisnomo, and Miguel Balisnomo, the youngest. Miguel graduated elementary in Culasi Central Elementary School, in high school he graduated from Northern Antique Vocational School, in college he graduated from University of the East, where he majored in Elementary Education. He has a Master’s Degree in Education at Philippine Union College.
Miguel is married to Pilar Roque on October 11, 1962, from Malabon, Metro Manila, Philippines. They were blessed with two children: Ramon, married to Evelyn Adlaon with two children: Rayden Michael and Rhyo Benjamin. Milarny, married to Solomon Tolentino, Jr. with two children: Joseph Dean Tolentino married to Ailee Sta Lucia and Dianne Aiza married to Justin Braden Chua. They have three children: Juliana Braille, Jamie Leigh, Jaclynn Jade.
Miguel and Pilar migrated to the United States in 1968 and lived in New York, New Jersey, and in 1978 lived in Big Spring, Tx for fifty-five years. In 2022, they moved to live with their daughter Milarny in Tucson, Arizona, where he took his last breath at Milarny’s home in the early morning of January 14, 2024.
Miguel was a jolly person, friendly, and fun to be with. Friends call him Mike, he was Daddy to Pilar, Lolo Mike to his grandkids, Uncle Mike, and Lolo (grandfather in Filipino) to everybody else.
Miguel worked in New York and New Jersey as an elevator operator and welfare service investigator at the Human Services Department in Texas. He was also a case worker for the blind client, case worker and a teacher at Texas Youth Commission. He was a smart student and a hard worker. In fact, he was able to write a book that became a workbook for students of the Texas Youth Commission.
Mike served as an Elder of Big Spring Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years. He was fluent in Spanish language.
He will be remembered as a responsible husband, supportive grandfather, and friends to all.
