“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.” Proverbs 3: 5-6
On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, Harold Eugene Hicks of Midland, Texas, passed away after a short illness.
He was born to James Benton and Gladys Hicks in Big Spring, Texas on November 11th, 1936. He was educated in Forsan, Texas where he played many sports for the mighty Buffalos where his lifelong love for football began.
During his high school days, he met and married Jane Robinson on September 30, 1955, and shortly after that they began their family. He had a thirty-plus-year career with Sid Richardson Carbon Gas in Big Spring, Texas, retiring in 1999 and relocating to Midland, Texas, to be near family. He enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, and spending time with family.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and enjoyed serving Him at every opportunity throughout his lifetime. His focus in life was to always point others to Jesus Christ. From teaching RAs and Sunday school to participating in mission trips to everyday conversations, he desired to point others to the Lord’s saving love and grace. His tireless love and devotion to his family were evident in his final moments. He leaves us with a strong legacy of faith and devotion.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jane Hicks, daughter Cathy Scott with her husband Tom, son Ben Hicks with his wife Debra, and daughter Helen Ross with her husband David. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Matthew Hicks, Mallory Rogers, and Ally Neal, their families, and four nephews.
