Mary Ellen Dorchester, of Midland, passed away peacefully in her home on September 24th, 2022 at the age of 90. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 on Wednesday, Sept 28, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 2:00 at First Baptist Church Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Mary was born in 1932 in Abilene, Texas to James and Connie Felts. Mary attended Howard College in Big Spring, Texas and continued living in the area where she met her future husband Dave Dorchester. The two were married in Big Spring on June 2, 1956 and moved to Midland in 1964, where they raised their two children Brian and Diana.
Mary loved fishing, bird watching, gardening and of course attending her grandkids numerous sporting events. Mary was also active in First Baptist Church in Midland where she managed the church’s preschool and taught Sunday School every week. Her entire family would confirm what an excellent cook Mary was and encouraged her to share her recipes. Mary was also active in several local charities and could always be counted on to help anyone in need.
She is survived by her two children, Brian Dorchester and wife Kathy of Aledo and Diana Barker and her husband Danny of Midland, and by 6 grandchildren, Kasey Barker of Lubbock, Dustin Barker and his wife Meredith of Comanche, Dylan Barker of Midland, Drew Barker and his wife Ashton of Brady, Shelby Artymovich and her husband Alex of Aledo and Austin Dorchester and his wife Jordan of Dallas, as well as six great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by Dave Dorchester.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the numerous caregivers, particularly Martha Ramirez.
Pallbearers will be Austin Dorchester, Alex Artymovich, Dustin Barker, Drew Barker, Dylan Barker, Kyle Barker, Hastin Barker and Hagen Barker.
