Mary B. Rasavage

Mary B. Rasavage, longtime resident of Midland, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday June 22, 2022.  Mary was born April 20, 1925 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late Joe and Rebecca Bachicha.  Mary grew up in Fabens, Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in El Paso, Texas.  She attended Texas College of Mines and in 1948 she earned her B. A. degree in History and English Literature.  She met her soul mate William J. Rasavage while he was stationed at Fort Bliss.  They married in El Paso, Texas at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on April 19, 1952.  Just a few days later, Bill shipped off to the Korean War as a second lieutenant.  Mary continued her education at Western Texas College and received her Masters’ degree in History and English Literature in 1953.  Bill returned to El Paso from the Korean War just in time to see Mary’s graduation.  Mary went to work for the El Paso Independent School District and taught school there for 10 years.  Bill and Mary moved to Bedford, Texas in 1963 and she taught school for the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District for 4 years.  Bill and Mary finally made Midland their final destination in 1968.  She taught at St. Ann’s Catholic School for 5 years and concluded her teaching career at the Glasscock County ISD when she retired in 1994.

She was a faithful Christian and longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland.  She was a member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society.  Mary was also a member of the Midland Women’s Club, Midland Association of Retired School Personnel, Midland Society of University Women, and the Republican Women’s Club.  She was also a member of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

Preceded in death by her parents, sister Francis Hunt, and brother Martin Paul Bachicha,  Mrs. Rasavage is survived by her brother Joe A. Bachicha of Austin, two sons, William Paul Rasavage and wife Jennifer of Maple Falls, Washington, and Patrick Rasavage and wife Sandy of Midland, 4 grandchildren, Jenny Rasavage of Maple Falls, Washington, Patricia Beaulieu and husband Mark of Ephrata, Washington, William E. Rasavage of Spokane Valley, Washington, Keal Rasavage of Brownwood, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Monday June 27th at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 28th at 10:00 am.
