Steven Dallas McClain, 65, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel.

Steven was born on November 29, 1956, to Mary Alice Long and Cecil Dallas McClain in Franklin, Indiana.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington. He was a math and science teacher at the Texas Leadership Charter Academy for the end of his career. He enjoyed collecting coins and guns, going on long motorcycle rides with his wife, as well as participating in school events with his students. He was a man of many thoughts and questions. He helped many throughout the years and helped many students thrive while being an excellent educator.

He is survived by his wife Ida McClain of Midland, four daughters, sister Paula McClain of Indiana, and 12 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Alice Long and Cecil Dallas McClain.

The family suggests memorials be donated to Ida McClain.

Mrs. McClain, I am very sorry for the heartache you are experiencing at this time. While I did not have the chance to get to know Mr. McClain well, I can tell by the comments and stories of others at the school that he will be missed and that he had impacted students' lives. I want to offer my condolence to you, his wife. I am one of Mr. McClain's students. I was in his first period class, once work was finished , we would talk about his addiction to cheese and Mt. Dew. He would speak of you in class, I would think of you as a loving cute couple. He was a wonderful teacher.
