Mary Margaret ( Buie ) Atwater, 71, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was born on October 9, 1950 in Conroe, Texas to Edwin R. and Imogene Buie.  Her family moved to Midland in 1957. She attended San Jacinto Jr. High and graduated from Lee High School in 1969. She met the love of her life in high school, and she and Jim Atwater have been married for more than 50 years. She and Jim are long time members of Wilshire Park Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Atwater; sons, Lee Atwater ( Kathleen ), Chad Atwater ( Melissa ); sister, Donna Cox ( Eddie ); sisters-in-law, Connie Foote ( Jerry ), Bonnie Atwater, brother, Phil Petty ( Sandy ), Mike Petty ( Janice ), Bob Petty ( Karla ); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nephews; along with many friends and her pet companion, Toby.

Mary was a blessing to all who knew her and loved her. She will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers will be Trey Atwater, Brent Cox, Micah Atwater, and Justin Martin.  Glenn Pipes, pastor of Wilshire Park Baptist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022. The funeral will be on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland.  Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Midland and Wilshire Park Baptist Church.

All services are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
