Charlena Mathis

Charlena Mathis, 84, of Midland, Texas, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 at her home.  Private graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery.

The daughter of Louise (Esinhuth) and Leslie Blackburn, Charlena was born August 29, 1937 in Agua Dulce, Texas.  She was united in marriage to Bobby Ray Mathis on June 26, 1953 in Andrews, Texas.  Charlena graduated with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Midland College.  Charlena retired after a career with Chevron Oil Company.  The best wife and Mom, Charlena was active and supportive in her husband’s career and her boys’ activities and sports.

Charlena is survived by her two sons, Bobby Graham Mathis and wife, Cynda, and Russell Lee Mathis and wife, Wendy, all of Midland, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Paula and Dixie and her husband, Bobby Ray Mathis.

The family suggests that in lieu of floral gifts, memorials may be given to Angel Care Home Health, 1030 Andrews Hwy, Ste 109, Midland, TX  79701.
