Wade L. Gamblin, 97, longtime resident of Midland, left this earth for Paradise on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Graveside services will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, September 20th, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, Texas.
Wade was born in Brady, Texas to Fred and Virgie Gamblin.
After graduating from Rochelle High School, Wade joined the Navy and becamea Seabee during World War II. He witnessed the historical raising of the U.S. flag on Iowa Jima in 1945.
Upon his return he married Dorothy Gillespie on March 22, 1947. Wade dedicated his life to his Lord, his family, and his country. He was a
member of the Woodcrest Drive Church of Christ. Always an optimist, he found joy in every aspect of life and spread that joy to all who were around him. Everyone knew and loved him for the stories he told, both fact and fiction, and for the joke he always had ready. He loved football
and the Midland Lee Rebels. He worked as an electrician for Midwest Electric and wired several of Midland’s tallest buildings.
Wade was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, daughter Patricia Rose, son-in-law Larry Rose, sisters Nila Fullerton and Arleva Lewallen and a brother, Theron Gamblin.
He is survived by second wife Betty; daughter Linda (Fred) Welden, son Leland (Mary) Gamblin, grandchildren Amelie, David, Chad and Clay, and six greatgrandchildren; sisters Ramalee Stewart and Jolene Kelm, and a stepdaughter, Linda Herd.
