Francine Murphrey Dawson

Francine Murphrey Dawson, 84, of Midland, passed away on July 18, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2801 North Garfield Street, Midland, Texas 79705.

Fran was born on April 22, 1937 in Van Zandt County, Texas, to James Allen and Ibera Murphrey. She married the love of her life, Bob, on June 1, 1957 in Canton, Texas. In 1962, the couple moved to Midland. Fran and Bob had one son, Bob Dawson, Jr., and two grandchildren, Geoffrey Dawson and Ellie Dawson.

Fran performed years of service at Trinity Presbyterian Church and volunteered for more than twenty-five years and 18,000 hours as an Auxilian at Midland Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her son, Bob; her grandchildren, Geoffrey and Ellie; and her sister-in-law, Jewel Murphrey.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, James Murphrey; and her brother- and sister-in-law, Athol A. and Joan Dawson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Robert A. Vogel, M.D., and the nurses, PCAs, and other employees of Midland Memorial Hospital who cared for her during her final illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Gifts of Hope, Inc., or Grace Presbyterian Church.
