My dear son, Don, Where did the time go? Moments and years have passed passed at a very fast speed. It saddens me because the part of my life with you here on earth is over. What a great loss! Yet, I feel happiness and pride because you, my son, toughed it out through the rough, trying and overwhelming times and emerged with victory in so many areas of your life. The memories have sweetened through the years and now bring laughter, delight and warmness of heart to me, along with tears to my eyes. Rest in peace, my son. If you could look into my heart, you would see that you have fulfilled my life in many ways that no other person could I will never forget your robust laugh and your caring attitude. Rest in peace, my son. Love, Mom

Such a gift to have met Dr. McLarey. He was my father-in-law's Hospice doctor and came very late one night and sat with our family in the hospital. He was obviously tired at the end of his long day and yet he was in no hurry, answering all our questions and even shared some of his amazing life experiences. What a magnificent, compassionate, and devoted man; we adored and appreciated every minute we spent with him. Condolences to the family and friends.

My cousin Don was like a big brother to me. As a child growing up I spent many family vacations 6in Aunt Sandy and Uncle Butch's home with my parents and without. Teresa (Teedee) and I were close in age and Don was the cool big cuz. He exposed me to me comics of course, especially Spidey. But also awesome music. He was the kind and gentle giant with a strong presence. I always felt safe and loved and protected by him and the whole family. It was like a second home. When I grew up I found out that he and my brother Danny didn't want me at Don's 10th birthday party because I was the annoying who won a lot of the games.😏🙄😎😂. I never but I've never felt anything but love from. He was awesome and he's going to be greatly missed and I'm so glad I had some conversations with him before he left but I'm so sad that I won't have more but one day soon. Miss you my cousin , Juju

Dr. McClary was one physician who I can honestly say was a" blast of fun." I worked in ICU at Midland Health for many years and loved when he came for rounds. How he remembered all his jokes (one before he started rounding and one as he left the unit) I will never know, but always loved hearing them! He always made us laugh, even when we were drowning in critical situations and challenges. It is with admiration that I send my condolences to the family and anyone else who knew him. There are very few times in life when one person impacts your life in such a way that you can remember them with fondness, and he was that kind of person you want to remember with a smile. May God Bless him. May the family be blessed through your grieving journey.

I worked with Dr. McLarey at Home Hospice for many years. He loved to tell corny jokes, was a very caring and compassionate doctor and did many good things for his patients. I will surely miss him. God bless him and your family!

I met Don in the fall of 1980 and he was one of my first and best friends at A&M. We shared a love of music and funny stories. He convinced me to join a little singing group (The DARTS) and we had a grand time traveling around for concerts. Even a few shows out of town. In every circumstance Don was a gentle leader, and a great musician. He was easily the best of us, but always spoke with kindness and with consideration for others. You would not know his intelligence at first, he was just a good ol feller from some small town who loved his corny puns. We saw each other less after college, but each reunion was a lift to my heart. When my mom got diagnosed with late stage lung cancer, He was there with his gentle, clear, direct words of wisdom. I still channel Don, I use his words for her when I sit with people who are in crisis. I could go on and on and on about his thoughtfulness for others. It is hard to image him gone. I am glad for him, so sad for us... Because we are without hm for a while.

My brother, my friend, my life-long friend. Next to Mom, I was your biggest fan! I've never lived without you in my world so this is going to be a strange and difficult transition. I hope you know how loved you were. Thank you for allowing me to serve you for the past 5 years. It wasn't always easy and we didn't always get along but our love was steady through it all & I wouldn't trade our time together for anything. I will miss your voice, your random facts, your wise insights and watching all those great youtube clips with you. Most of all - I'll miss your laugh, your smile and your huge bear hugs. There's never be another like you. So proud to be your little sister. I'll never stop missing you. Love you my Dandy Don! Teresa aka Tere aka TeeDee aka "Number One" (as in "make it so, number one" from star trek:) I won't let your story die.

My husband said that Dr. McClarey explained things so well. My husband never said that about another Dr. and he went to many! I do remember he took time with my husband, which is precious!

Dr. McLarey was, as his father was as well, a wonderful physician. When I worked at Carlsbad Medical Center, he was one of the most liked and popular physicians. Not only was he known as a good diagnostician but was also such a kind and caring man, so loved by patients and staff. My condolences to the family and prayers for comfort in these difficult times. We will see him in Heaven! 🙏🏻

I was quite shaken to hear of Don's passing. He was not a life long part of my life, but, was a huge part when I needed him. He took care of my mother just prior to her death, then I became a member of Grace Outreach and he took care of me there and while I was working at the hospital in medical records when I needed it. My thoughts and prayers go out to all your family with much love.
