Janet Louise Wolfe (Janet Louise Floth), 85, of Midland, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Janet was born, May 12, 1936 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She attended school in Fort Collins, graduating from High School at age 17. She then attended college at Colorado A & M (Colorado State University) studying Finance (Business college).During her first year of college, she was introduced to Spencer Ernest Wolfe. They fell in love and later married on August 8, 1954. Spencer was the love of her life. They were married for over 64 years.
Janet and Spencer are survived by their four sons, Spencer David Wolfe (Lexi and Benjamin) of Cedar Park, Texas, Steven Dean Wolfe and wife Deehona of Midland, Texas, Kevin James Wolfe and wife Kay Lynn of Colleyville, Texas and Karl John Wolfe and wife Cathy of Kingsland, Texas; Four grandchildren, Kenzie Wolfe of Dallas, Parker Wolfe of Colleyville, Texas, Chelsea Wood and husband Andrew of Spring, Texas and Brittany Hilgemeier and husband Jason of Richardson, Texas; Two great-grandchildren, Lorraine Kay Wood and Aspen Milo Hilgemeier, with another coming this summer; one niece, Lydia Anderson and husband John of Las Cruces, NM. And one nephew, Marlan and wife Carol Jean of Freeburg, Michigan.
Janet was an only child who was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Francis Floth of Fort Collins, Colorado as well as her husband, Spencer Wolfe of Big Spring and her great-granddaughter Rosemary Lynn Wood of Spring Texas. Janet was a beautiful woman with grace and charm, and loved people. She invested in her friends and family developing these relationships. She enjoyed playing bridge, games and reading. Janet was a wonderful house wife, loved to cook, especially desserts. She was committed to her husband and devoted to her four boys, and loved the time she spent with them. Janet moved at a fast tempo. She was a quick learner, whether it be piano, games or walking. Janet enjoyed many walks around Scenic Mountain State Park and could out pace almost everyone. Janet was also very active with Spencer in local politics, Howard County Republican Party and in her early years elected to the school board in La Porte, Texas. She was also engaged in her community as Area Prayer Coordinator for Concerned Women for America, was a volunteer with the Red Cross, taught a women Bible study and help immensely with children’s church. She was instrumental in helping to develop reading curriculum.
Janet learned to play the piano at an early age, and was able to use this skill in her church life. Christ was a central part of her life setting a faithful example for all to follow. The most important quality to Janet was her faith. As years went by, Janet’s walk influenced many people. She was always willing to pray for others, offering the Godly wisdom she had learned in her life. She understood the key to life, faith in God and his son Jesus Christ and she lived it daily.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute or to the Red Cross.
