Geraldine “Jerry” Polster Penick, 93 of Midland, passed away peacefully on Friday April 30, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Jerry was born on November 30, 1927 on the family farm in Benjamin, TX to Walter A. and Bertha (Jeske) Polster. Jerry attended Benjamin High School graduating as Salutatorian of her class in 1946. Following graduation she worked at the Veterans Administration, and then the Munday Times newspaper in Munday, Texas where she met and married David Penick. After they married, they lived in Abilene, TX and then moved to San Angelo, TX. Jerry was active in her church, teaching Sunday School and was also active in the LWML.
The family moved to Midland from San Angelo in 1968. Jerry was very active in Grace Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School, LWML, Altar Guild and Quilters. She was the secretary at Grace Lutheran for 20 years retiring in 1990. Jerry also served as a Girl Scout leader for several years.
Jerry is survived by her husband of 70 years David, her daughter Margie Norton, husband Fred of Midland, son G. David Penick & Paula Lednicky of Magnolia, daughter Melinda Luedecke, husband Pat of Belton. Her sisters Irene Greenhaw of Midland, and Caroline Graham of Buna. Five Grandchildren: Stephanie Mitchell (Brandon), Kimber Luedecke-Barrientos (Juan), Sean Norton (Jerry), Eric Norton (Kim), Brittney Espinoza (Gus). Eight Great Grandchildren Karsen, CJ, Melodi, Bradley, Colby, Luis, Iliana & Jacob. Two Great-Great Grandchildren Oliver and Emilio. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Bertha (Jeske) Polster, Brother Calvin W. Polster.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude towards Kindred Hospice, Encompass Home Health, the many Nurses, Doctors and staff of MMH.
The family will receive guests from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle Welch. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A reception will be held in the Community Room immediately following the burial at Grace Lutheran Church.
Memorials can be made to the Youth Fund or Baumann Scholarship Fund @ Grace Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Barlau, Robert Ace Turner, Bill Burt, Karl Pennington, Dennis Baker, Todd Byars, Jerry Damm and James Martin.
