Mary Jane Sapp Williams was born on May 23, 1930 to Winnie Wells and Raleigh Hasty Sapp in Cameron, Texas. She was raised in Rosebud, Texas, where she graduated from Rosebud High School and Baylor University in 1951.
She married R. Ken Williams in 1952 and they were married for sixty years until his death in 2012.
She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, where she was a member of the Vestry, and served on other committees. She was active in the Junior League of Midland and served as President in 1969-70. She is a former member of the Board of Trinity School and served as chairman of the school’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2009.
She is preceded in death by her husband, R. Ken Williams, her parents, her brother David Raleigh Sapp. She is survived by her daughters, Liza Jane Williams Philpy, of San Antonio, Jennifer McDuff Williams Clark, of Austin, three granddaughters, Sarah Pearl Clark Peña and her husband Chepo Peña from Austin, Mary Jane Philpy-Dollins and her husband Clay Dollins from Austin, Julianne Williams Philpy Reeves and her husband David Reeves of San Antonio, and Gay Sapp Lack, sister-in-law of Georgetown, Texas, and cousin Rosemary Ligon Zabcik of Phoenix, Arizona.
Caregivers were Carol Gardner, Stacey Lujan, Rebecca Guerrero, Sarah Brown, Sara Herrera, Zavana Hill, Idia Herrera, Monica Legarreta and especially Vickey Brown.
Memorials can be given to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 1412 W. Illinois or to Trinity School, 3500 W. Wadley.
