Ruby L. Foster, 93, of Big Spring, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Forest Hill, Texas. Private graveside services will be held. You can pay your respects at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm Sunday, January 10, 2021 and from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm Monday, January 11, 2021.

She was born June 27, 1927 in Port Gibson, Mississippi to Elvin Carter and Lizzie Carter. Ruby married Bernell Foster Sr. and he preceded her in death in June 1975.

Ruby was a longtime resident of Big Spring and had worked at Webb Air Force Base for many years. After the base closed she worked at Scenic Mountain Medical Center for over 30 years, retiring in 2017.

Left to mourn her passing are two daughters, Marva E. Foster and Judy C. Little both of Forest Hill; one son, Bernell Foster, Jr. and wife, Yvonne of Big Spring; two granddaughters, Samone Evette Foster and Jodi Rene Outland; one grandson Ronald Tyronne Foster of Grand Prairie; seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and a sister, Alice Devine of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Bonnie Marie and Bobbie and one brother Leonard Carter; and a host of friends and coworkers, who referred to her as Mrs. Ruby.

What an Icon.!I love Ms. Ruby. Ms. Ruby would always 'shoot it straight', Ms. Ruby was strong, sharp, truthful, wise, witty, comical. Ruby would never let me whine, gripe, and not afraid to tell me if I gained weight, LOL . Ms Ruby would not take less than our best! It was my honor to have known and learned from OUR Ms. Ruby. Ruby always had a smile and a kind word every morning when we passed in the hallways of the hospital. Not only was she one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of knowing, her endless work ethic was something to be strived for. May you rest in peace Ms. Ruby.

She was the sweetest lady I knew my prayers go out to they Family, in your time of loss, your headed home sweet lady.

Oh Ms. Ruby. She was such a wonderful lady. Her hugs were warm. Her work ethic was like none other. She always had a smile for me.

I have known Miss Ruby since I was 16 years old. She was the kindest, sweetest person!! She taught me how to clean the "proper" way a long time ago!! I loved her and she will be missed!! Bernal Jr. you all are in our prayers!!

My Granny, I love you.... I miss you...as I held your hand the day you left me, no other hand will have the love and respect that you carried. I will miss everything that you did as I grew up in your shadow, coming home knocking on the screen door because you locked it...so I start ringing the doorbell like crazy, then to hear your voice "WHO IS IT?"..I would say it's me? "ME DONT HAVE A NAME?" Then you would say "TIGER"...yes Granny it's me. Or I walk in and your sitting at the table with a cigarette in your mouth looking through the paper or you in the kitchen humming some old gospel song. Oh what I would do to have those moments with you again. But how I held your hand on your final day, is how I wish to have you hold my hand greeting you again. Until we meet again Granny everyday you will be on my.mind and in my heart forever... I LOVE YOU YOUR TIGER.
