Kelly A. (Scheu) Lary, 54 of Midland, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017. Memorial services will be at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 4, 2017.Kelly was born on March 4, 1963 in Huntington, New York to Walter Augustus (Jr.) and Anne Kathleen (Hilgenfeldt) Scheu. Kelly graduated from Northport High School and then Nassau Community College with an Associate in Arts, then furthered her education at Long Island University at CW Post. While at Nassau Community College, Kelly was a member of the NJCAA Gymnastics team and a Cheerleader. At Long Island University, Kelly was a Varsity Cheerleader and majored in Education. Kelly loved animals; dogs especially. Kelly met her future husband in 1982 during a gymnastics meet held at Odessa College. Although Kelly and Jim, as she called him, did not marry until 1990; they were best friends almost from the start. She loved the \Tom Landry\ Dallas Cowboys, which did not make her popular living on Long Island, New York. She especially loved the Boston Bruins and after moving to Texas, attended a yearly hockey game in Dallas when the Bruins played the Stars. It was not a hobby, but a passion for her to help lost, abandoned and shelter animals find forever homes, especially her own home. Kelly was a teacher from the start, not just in the classroom but with everyone who was willing to learn from her. She impacted more lives than can ever be known and her teachings will live on.She is survived by her best friend and husband (Jim) James Lary; her son Dirk and her daughter Blythe whom she skillfully guided to becoming great people; her brother Wally Scheu and his bride Barbara; her nephews Wally Jr. and Stephen and their respective wives Brandie and Deanna, a great nephew Braydon and a great niece Kiana and finally Margaret Williams, her mother in law; and her chemo dog, Patti.Kelly is preceded in death by her parents Walter Augustus and Anne Kathleen Scheu, her paternal grandparents Walter A. and Edna Scheu and her maternal grandparents William and Ethel Hilgenfeldt. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals, American Cancer Society, St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Texas Oncology, United Blood Services, Rays of Hope and the USO. For those that wish to send flowers, Kelly loved yellow arrangements. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Shari Evans, RN and Dr. Manmeet Mangat with whom she had total trust and respect, Texas Oncology, Midland Firefighters IAFF Local 4405, Midland Memorial Hospital CCU and Oncology Nurses and Nurses' Aides and Hospice Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
