She was 86 years old.Joy Frances Cheyney, nee Joy Frances West was born January 19, 1931 in Sweetwater, Texas of Bobbie West, nee Minnie Belle Kinsey and George Francis West. Bobbie was born in Rotan, Texas and George came from Merkel. Frances was a long-time MIdlander.Frances is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, George Raymond Cheyney of Midland, originally from Denver, Colorado.Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Grace West (in 2015), mother Bobbie (in 1994), father George (in 1990), brother Wayne and brother Henry (in 1937 and 1947) – and by her son, Brian Francis Taylor (in 1992).Frances was first married in 1950 to Hollis Karl Taylor (deceased) from Chapman, Kansas, who was the father of her four loving sons, Randall West Taylor, born 1952 and presently residing in Midland, Kimberley Hugh Taylor, born 1954 and presently residing in Midland, Brad Dawson Taylor, born 1956 and presently residing in New York, NY, and Brian Francis (Biff) Taylor, born 1957, deceased.Frances is also survived by her three loving daughters-in-law, Kathy Cheyney Miller of Cypress, Texas, Carol Cheyney Roberts of El Paso and Susan C. Brown of New York City.Her grand-children are Laura Leigh Taylor of Lake City, Florida, Whitney Joy Taylor of Lake City, Amy Belle Taylor of Midland, Adam Gabriel Taylor of Gainesville, Florida, Henry Dylan Taylor of Tamarac, Florida, Iris Oakley Taylor-Brown of New York, and great grand-children Jacob Dicks and Ethan Moore of Lake City.Joy Frances Cheyney was a delightful, devoted, and talented wife, mother, grandmother, provider, cook, home-maker, professional, churchgoer, community member, bridge player, golfer, singer and dancer. She was also an extraordinary conversationalist and storyteller. Befitting her name, she was an enormous Joy to everyone who knew her and quite a few who didn’t. Her indomitable spirit of love, generosity, courage and hilarity set the pace and provided an example for four boys who adored and do adore her.Her husband George continues with the same bravery, intelligence and friendliness that characterized their household together.In lieu of flowers, those who would like to honor Frances’ memory are encouraged to make contributions in her name to one of the following social service organizations (as per Frances’ wishes): Community and Senior Services (Midland), Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services, MD Anderson Cancer Center, or Special Olympics.Join us for a remembrance and a celebration!Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at The Chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Midland, Texas, 800 W.
