Roy Goodman (Shorty) King, was born December 31, 1928 and passed away April 10, 2017. He was born in Midland and raised on the family ranch in Greenwood. He attended Midland High School. In high school he met Lavena Brooks and they married February 7, 1947. He worked several ranches in Texas and New Mexico for many years. In 1980 he bought what is now King Windmill & Pump, Inc. He partnered up with his son Wyn in 1981. The two of them worked side by side to build the business to be the success it is now.Shorty was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lavena, 2 sons, 2 brothers and 1 sister.He is survived by his son Wyn King and wife Cyn of Greenwood, and two sisters; Nonnie Wolcott of Lubbock and Barbara Johnson of Australia.In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Greenwood Baptist Church.Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, April 14, 2017 at Nalley- Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N Big Spring. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Greenwood Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
