Roy Lee Scurlock, 61, of Midland, was the sixth of 15 children, born on July 24, 1955 in Stanton, TX to Eddie B. Scurlark and the late Warren Clyde Scurlark.Roy accepted Christ as his personal Savior at St. James Baptist Church in Stanton, TX. He also attended school in Stanton, graduating from Stanton High School in 1973. He served his country, joining the United States Army shortly after graduating from high school.He worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years and was a proud member of the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO, Midland Local # 1696.Roy was humble, very kind-hearted and a caring individual. He enjoyed family gatherings and his favorite past time was listening to music, buying and collecting electronics, and traveling. One of his fondest memories was traveling to Dublin, Ireland. He also enjoyed watching football. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys.Roy passed peacefully from this life on the evening of August 8, 2016 after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving mother, relatives, and caregivers during the last days of his life. He will be greatly missed. We love you, Roy.He is preceded in death by his father, Warren C. Scurlark and his three older brothers, Jessie Scurlark, Willie Scurlark and Lawrence Scurlark.He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Felisha Howard of Lancaster, TX; his mother, Eddie B. Scurlark of Stanton, TX; three brothers, Warren Clyde Scurlark, Jr. of Stanton, TX, Michael Scurlark of Midland, TX and Steve Scurlark (Naomi) of Big Spring, TX; eight sisters, Clytia Miles (Earl) of Baytown, TX, Ola Scurlark, Diann Scurlark and Catherine Scurlark, all of Houston, TX; Ella Scurlark, Carolyn Scurlark, Helen McCoy (Anthony) and Melissa Scurlark, all of Midland, TX; two grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1800 N Carver in Midland. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.The family would like to express their gratitude to Texas Oncology and Hospice of Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
